Prepare paper for your fuse, strip the head of your matches, collect sulphur.

 You will need it.

I was born in Milan and grew up in a time of intense political confrontation and armed struggle, brutal repression, industrial restructuring and mass unemployment. Fence-sitting wasn't an option.

In 1981 I was living in Northern Ireland, reporting about the British occupation and sectarian war, when prisoners in Long Kesh went on hunger strike and car bombs started going off again.

Those where my formative years, so to speak.

Later I studied Semiotics in Bologna and Spatial Culture in London, harbouring the illusion that i had finally left war behind.

After moving to Berlin, and later to Hong Kong in 1997, I started writing about social and spatial practices, urban space and representation, contributing essays and research papers to academic journals and international conferences.

I taught at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University, HKU SPACE before it became clear that my principles were not compatible with the neoliberal governance of labour within academia and its associated value-system.

What I present here are some excerpts from my latest publications, with a particular emphasis on short stories, poetry and literary translations. I won't add links to online bookstores, but if you are interested in reading the full text or purchasing the paper version, feel free to contact me.
